Love this. I also rewatched The Breakfast Club recently. The thing that struck me was how unkind everyone is to each other for most of the movie. It reminded me of how the High School world felt to me in the 80s as a closeted gay kid.
that is a really great comment. as i watched it, i thought wow, i really thought john was nicer to claire more... but it totally captures how high schoolers turn on each other on a dime.
I have all the same feelings for St Elmo’s. Pretty sure I watched it every day for a year. I can’t help but quote lines from it to my kids, but still haven’t had the nerve to show them the movie.

Same. We were also watching Porky’s and Benny Hill in elementary school, so I never use my own experience as a guide.
i remember sneaking into porkies. i might have gotten half the references, but laughed cause i knew i was supposed to.
